Books I Read in 2024 + Books on My Radar for Next Year

Posted on January 28, 2024October 29, 2025 by Katelyn

It’s that time again — when I share what I’ve been reading over the past year! You can check out my previous yearly reading posts here.

My goal for 2024 was to read 24 books. I came close, but there was one book I just couldn’t get through (you know the kind — it drags on and you keep hoping it’ll get better). I’m not really a DNF (“did not finish”) type of reader, so I powered through most of my list and ended up reading 14 books this year. And honestly? I’m not upset about it. The most important thing is that I kept reading — and kept the habit alive.

For Christmas, my husband surprised me with a Kindle, and it’s truly been the best gift ever. It came with a 3-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited, and I’ve also been using Libby to borrow e-books from the library. Between those two, I always have something new to dive into!

Books I Read in 2024

My Favorites

Throne of Glass Series & Crescent City Series by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve been on such a fantasy kick lately. After falling in love with A Court of Thorns and Roses last year, I decided to read the rest of Sarah J. Maas’s worlds — and wow, they did not disappoint. Throne of Glass is full of fierce female characters and adventure, while Crescent City blends urban fantasy with heart-tugging emotion and mystery.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

This one made me stop and think. It follows a woman caught between life and death who’s given the chance to see what her life might’ve looked like if she’d made different choices. It’s beautifully written, emotional, and thought-provoking — a book that reminds you to appreciate the life you’re living right now.

Educated by Tara Westover

An unforgettable memoir about growing up in a survivalist family in rural Idaho and finding the courage to seek education and independence. It’s raw, powerful, and deeply inspiring.

The Women by Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah never misses. This historical fiction follows female nurses during the Vietnam War — exploring courage, friendship, and the often-forgotten stories of women in war. It’s heart-wrenching and beautifully told.

Books on My To-Read List for 2025

More Fantasy Series

  • Fourth Wing Series by Rebecca Yarros
  • The Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
  • Six of Crows Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

More Colson Whitehead

I read Harlem Shuffle and didn’t completely click with his writing style, but I want to give him another try. Up next: The Underground Railroad and The Nickel Boys.

More Memoirs

After reading Educated, I realized how much I love a good memoir. Here are a few on my list:

  • Finding Me by Viola Davis
  • Spare by Prince Harry
  • Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

More Mysteries

  • The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden
  • The 8th book in the Cormoran Strike series (coming late 2025) by Robert Galbraith
  • Thursday Murder Club Series by Richard Osman

💬 If you’re a fellow reader, I’d love to connect! Add me on Goodreads and share your favorite reads — I’m always looking for book recommendations.
